Black Oriental Rugs
Black in Persian Rugs
Black Oriental rugs convey a restful and mysterious feeling. Black is more common in contemporary and modern Persian rugs. In older wool rugs black was used to accent a design or draw attention to a particular pattern. Dark brown and black outlines allow a variety of other colors to be used in the same rug without clashing. Black fields can be found in modern Hamedans.
Heavily dyed brown Oriental rugs can also appear black in color. This is especially true in older tribal pieces. Some newer Baluch rugs have black and red color schemes as well.
